Lumpho
Sterculia foetida
Lumpho in Thai, is a large deciduous tree that can grow up to 20–30 meters tall. It is commonly found in moist evergreen and dry evergreen forests of Thailand, particularly in the southeastern and southern regions. The tree produces reddish to reddish-brown flower clusters with a strong, unpleasant odor. Its fruit is a hard, woody follicle that splits open when mature, revealing numerous seeds inside.
Timber: Lightweight but durable; used in general construction, furniture, and making crates or boxes. Seed Oil: The seeds yield oil that can be used to produce biodiesel. Shade Tree: Often planted along roads or in parks for shade.
